We are looking for world-class technical talent to join our Applied Materials Technical Infrastructure team. This is an onsite position at our R&D site in Sunnyvale, CA.
Scope and Objectives:
The R&D Lab supports Applied Materials most advanced semiconductor machines including supporting equipment and facilities infrastructure.
The position is a Facilities Controls Engineer supporting tool installs, new factory upgrades, and site infrastructure. This includes pulling together new machine technical facility requirements, SOWs, cost analysis, quality parameters, projected durations, safety requirements, and resourcing requirements.

Job Description:
Facilities & Real Estate position to provide leadership in managing outsourced Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) supplier performing operations, maintenance, repairs, and planning of facilities systems.
Responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of the facilities support systems to ensure maximum safety and building uptime
Manage 3rd party IFM provider to ensure proper maintenance of mechanical, electrical, exhaust, waste water treatment, chilled water, process piping, and controls systems
Review operation, maintenance, trouble shooting, project commissioning & acceptance related documents for facilities systems; recommend and implement improvements
Respond to business interruptions or internal customer escalations
Evaluate facilities system capacities and capabilities
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers and proposal engineers to ensure proper implementation and integration of our control system solutions.
Functional Knowledge:
Demonstrates in-depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline and broad knowledge of other disciplines within the function (i.e. mechanical, electrical, controls, etc.)
Identify and conceptually scope safety, compliance, capacity, redundancy, and cost savings projects
Obtain funding and manage facilities projects per scope, schedule & budget
Experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD, SCADA (e.g. GE Cimplicity, Ignition), PLC programming AB/Rockwell, Simens S7 and CMMS (e.g.IBM Maximo)
Business Expertise:
5+ years working experience as a facilities manager in semiconductor or similar industry
Experience with contract management and negotiation
Analyze budgets, assist in fiscal budget planning, and manage services to budgets
Anticipates business and regulatory issues
Recommends product, process or service improvements
Comprehensive knowledge in Semiconductor/cleanroom automated facility controls
Leadership:
Leads projects and teams with notable risk and complexity to achieve milestones and objectives
Excellent at multi-tasking, able to respond promptly to issues, and effectively and quickly restore facilities systems
Develops strategy for project execution
Problem Solving:
Perform problem solving, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
Solves complex problems with broad impact on the business; requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions

Impacts the direction and resource allocation for IFM management
Contributes to the development of functional strategy
Interpersonal Skills:
Coordinate with multiple groups (planning, construction, safety, maintenance service provider, building owners, management, etc.) to minimize facility or system downtime and business interruptions
Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications:
BS in Industrial Engineering/Electrical Engineering
Industrial, Manufacturing and Research and Development experience preferred in facilities engineering.
3-7 years of controls electrical engineering design experience for industrial building projects
Licensed engineer in California a plus
Prefered electrical engineering design experience for industrial facilities, labs and clean rooms involving substations, generators, load analysis for equipment and tool installation, lighting, communications and electrical distribution for campus wide facilities
Strong communications skills required to coordinate work between in-house design team members
Strong presentation and teaming skills to coordinate with client management and end-user representatives
Proven track record of successful completion of projects involving control systems commissioning, software integration, calibration, or troubleshooting.
Analyze plant processes, design, and implement improvements.
Troubleshooting issues with hardware and processes.
Plan preventative maintenance.
Work with others to detect problems and implement solutions.
Technical proficiency in most software applications.
Strong cause-effect analytical abilities to solve problems.
Work experience with PLCs.
Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP).
Knowledge of HMI design and programming.
Familiarity with SCADA systems (e.g. Cimplicity, Ignition).

$120,000.00 - $165,000.00The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
